Xiamen Diamond League 2023: Christian Coleman equals world lead time to take 100m victory
The 2019 world champion clocked 9.83 to beat Jamaica's Kishane Thompson with Fred Kerley third and reigning Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs down in seventh.

Former world champion Christian Coleman blasted out of the blocks to win the men’s 100m at the the inaugural Xiamen Diamond League on Saturday (2 September).
Using all 10 lanes inside the Egret Stadium, the American - who finished fifth at last month's Budapest World Championships - made a superb start and stayed clear despite a fast finish from Kishane Thompson.
Coleman's winning time of 9.83 matched Zharnel Hughes and Noah Lyles' 2023 joint-world lead with Jamaican Thompson setting a personal best of 9.85 in second to qualify for the Diamond League Finals in Eugene, Oregon, in a fortnight.
In his first individual 100m since going out in the semis in Budapest, Fred Kerley - who won 4x100m relay gold with Coleman - overcame a sluggish start to finish third in 9.96.
Italy's reigning Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs finished seventh in 10.05 as he nears the end of another injury-marred season.
Ackeem Blake's hopes of making the Diamond League Final were swiftly ended as he fell out of the blocks. The Jamaican eventually crossed the line 15 seconds after the rest of the field.
