Over 1700 athletes from 134 teams are competing at the World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 24 between 27-31 August.

Several Olympians from the Paris 2024 Games are competing at the Estadio Atletico de la Vide in Lima.

They include South Africa's 4x100m men's silver medallists Bradley Nkoana and Bayanda Walaza.

Jamaica’s Alana Reid who raced the 4x100m and Torrie Lewis who represented Australia in the 200m and 4x100m at the Stade de France are also in action. Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew who placed finished fifth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase in Paris is another one of the rising stars.

Estonia’s Karmen Bruus (high jump), Uzbekistan’s Sharifa Davronova (triple jump), Ethiopia’s Medina Eisa (5000m) and Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill (100m hurdles) are among the returning defending champions from the World U20 Championships in Cali in 2022.
