The Indian cricket team will clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 6 in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to 20.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the revised Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 schedule on Monday.

The tournament was originally to be held in Bangladesh but has now been moved to the UAE, with matches to be hosted at two venues - the Sharjah Cricket Stadum and the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The best 10 women’s cricket teams from around the world will play for the title this year.

Both India and Pakistan have been drawn in Group A with six-time winners and reigning Women’s T20 World Cup champions Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Hosts Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies will be joined by Scotland in Group B.

Group B: Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, Scotland

Sri Lanka and Scotland qualified for the main tournament by making the final at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

As for the main Women’s T20 World Cup tournament, all group matches will be played in Sharjah and Dubai.

The top two teams from the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled on May 17 and 18 in Dubai. The Women’s T20 World Cup final will also be held in Dubai on October 20.

As per the new Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 schedule, Bangladesh will face Scotland in the opening match on October 3 in Sharjah.

The 2023 runners up, South Africa, will play West Indies in their opening match of the T20 World Cup on 4 October in Dubai. Defending champions and the most successful team in T20 World Cup history, Australia, will start their campaign on 5 October in Sharjah against Sri Lanka.

India will start their campaign against New Zealand on October 4 and will take on reigning champions Australia on October 13.

India made the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 held in Australia but lost the decider to the hosts. Last year, Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. lost in the semi-finals to Australia again.

A total of 23 matches will be played over the 18 days of the tournament.
