India’s Veer Chotrani beat local favourite Salah Eltorgman in straight games on Sunday to secure the men’s White Oaks Cup 2024 squash title in Niagara, Canada.
The 23-year-old Indian squash player, seeded eighth in the PSA Challenger Tour event, blanked fifth seed Salah Eltorgman with a 3-0 (11-6, 11-2, 11-9) scoreline for his second title of the 2024-25 squash season.
Veer Chotrani also beat two higher-seeded squash players en route to the final. He got the better of sixth-seed Owain Taylor of Wales 3-1 (11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8) in the semis after outlasting Israel’s Daniel Poleshchuk with a 3-2 (11-5, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-1) scoreline in the quarter-finals.
The Mumbai-born squash talent, who moved to the USA in 2019 to pursue squash and academics, had blanked Ecuador’s unseeded David Costales 3-0 (16-14, 11-9, 11-7) in the second round after receiving a bye in the opening round courtesy of his top-eight seeding.
This victory in Niagara marks Chotrani’s fifth PSA title. Last year, he secured three PSA titles in the United States, including his maiden win at the QuantiFi LifeTime MetroWest, the PVD Squash RI Open and the Greenwich Open. This year, he defended his title at MetroWest.
In addition to his five PSA titles, Veer, who is the son of two-time national squash champion Manish Chotrani, also won the Asian Individual Juniors title in 2019.
