Where to celebrate the Olympic Flame in Île-de-France from July 19 to July 21?

After an initial brief visit to Paris on July 14 and 15 which attracted a great deal of attention, the Olympic Flame returns to the Île-de-France region from July 19. Before the lighting of the cauldron at the end of the Opening Ceremony on July 26, take a look at the festivities scheduled for this weekend in the Val-d'Oise, Seine-et-Marne and Val-de-Marne departments.

After visiting the departments of Aisne and Oise on July 17 and 18, the Olympic Torch Relay returns to the Parisian region this Friday. During these few days of celebration around the capital, sport will pair with music, theatre and gastronomy. One thing's for sure: there'll be something for everyone!

July 19 – Val-d'Oise

In the Val-d'Oise department, for the 61st stage of the Relay, around a hundred torchbearers will take it in turns to carry the Torch through the 18 towns and villages on seven circuits. Over a total route of around thirty kilometres, the Flame will witness a number of festivities, starting in Théméricourt at 8am and finishing in Soisy-sous-Montmorency in the late afternoon.

Théméricourt

  • Sports activities (climbing, tai chi, hiking, Japanese fencing) and handisports (archery, quadrix, jeolettes, etc.) in the local park
  • Street shows (presented by the companies 'Pile Poil et Cie’ and ‘Rêve aérien’)

Pontoise

  • Parade on the Oise by the rowing club

Cergy

July 20 – Seine-et-Marne

After a trip to Val-d'Oise, the Olympic Flame will set off for Seine-et-Marne on Saturday July 20 for the 62nd stage. The Relay will pass through 12 towns across the department, from Fontainebleau to Meaux, where the festivities will be in full swing.

Fontainebleau

  • Start at the Centre National des Sports de la Défense, a major centre for military sport
  • Team relay with the French Modern Pentathlon Federation at the Château de Fontainebleau
  • Color run and sports activities with the Irish athletics team at the Philippe Mahut stadium

Pontault-Combault

  • Sports activities (BMX, skimboard, basketball, etc.) and handisports (cecifoot, seated volleyball, etc.) in the city hall park
  • Cultural activities (creation of flames in paper, frescoes, shows)

Lagny-sur-Marne

  • Acrobatic diving show by the Pole K company at the Quai Saint-Père
  • Climbing wall and introduction to mechanical surfing at the Oasis (located in the square Foucher de Careil)
  • Musical entertainment and food truck

Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes

July 21 – Val-de-Marne

On Sunday July 21, for the 63rd stage, the Olympic Flame will be making a stop in the Val-de-Marne department. Throughout the 15 towns and cities it will pass through, the Relay will travel through an atmosphere that promises to be one to remember, with a departure from Orly airport at 8am and a finale in Créteil as the highlight of the day.

Orly

  • Breaking events around the Flame carried by former Olympic Nordic combined champion Jason Lamy-Chappuis

Ormesson-sur-Marne

  • Sports activities (table tennis, handball, etc.) and handisports at the château
  • Artistic activities (drawing and photo competitions, etc.)

Chennevières-sur-Marne
