The trampoline competitions at Tokyo 2020 flew high and delighted with athletes soaring to new heights as they claimed gold, silver and bronze in the discipline.

Here’s our wrap-up of all the action.

Top five trampoline moments at Tokyo 2020

1: Second gold in a row for Belarus

Ivan Litvinovich makes it a repeat gold for Belarus. Five years after Uladzislau Hancharou won gold at Rio 2016, his compatriot gave the nation its second straight title in men’s trampoline.

2: DONG Dong ending his career on a high

With a silver medal in the men’s competition, China’s DONG Dong nabbed a fourth medal Olympic medal in what is likely his final appearance at the Games. A legend in the sport, Dong owns gold (London 2012), silver (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), and bronze (Beijing 2008).

3: A first for New Zealand

Dylan Schmidt made Kiwi history. His bronze medal in the men’s competition was the first in any gymnastics discipline for New Zealand. Schmidt had previously struck Youth Olympics gold in 2014 in Nanjing, China.

4: 1-2 for China in the women's event

A Chinese 1-2 in women’s was a historic first for the nation. ZHU Xueying and LIU Lingling captured gold and silver. It was the second time the nation had two on the medals podium with HUANG Shanshan and HE Wenna finishing second and third, respectively, in 2012.

5: Bryony Page's second Olympic medal

Another medal for Bryony Page. The Team GB trampoline gymnast won her second straight Olympic medal. She took the bronze in Tokyo, five years after being a surprise silver medallist at Rio 2016.

One last look

Canada’s Rosie Maclennan was seeking to win her third-straight Olympic gold in the event, a feat no man or woman has ever achieved. The 32-year-old, who came to the Games nursing an ankle injury, hasn’t ruled out a run at Paris 2024. Regardless, she’s already one of the sport’s biggest stars.

Hello, Paris

The 2019 women’s world champion MORI Hikaru of Japan didn’t have the competition of her dreams at Tokyo 2020, crashing out of her second routine before completing in 10 elements. She finished 13th and missed the final. But, the 22-year-old has a promising future as Japan still seeks its first-ever medal in the event.
