Vonn says "I'm not done yet" ahead of weekend return

Lindsey Vonn will resume her quest to beat Ingemar Stenmark's all-time World Cup record at St Anton on Saturday.

The 2010 Olympic downhill champion injured her knee in training in November, delaying her seasonal debut and forcing her to miss her favourite event at Lake Louise.

Her plan to come back at St Moritz last month but decided to take another few weeks off.

And US Ski and Snowboard Team announced on Twitter that the 34-year-old would be back in Austria this weekend.

Soon after that, Vonn posted a message on Instagram.

Yesterday, she posted a video of her practising ahead of her long-awaited return.

Chasing Stenmark

Vonn announced in October that she would retire at the end of this season but reversed that decision just weeks later.

She said at the end of November, "I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn't take the chance to push out from the starting gate for one last time at Lake Louise."

After taking downhill bronze at PyeongChang, Vonn claimed her 82nd World Cup triumph in the final downhill of 2017-18 at Are, Sweden.

That win was not enough to see her pip Olympic champion Sofia Goggia to the downhill crystal globe, but it did move her to within four of Stenmark's record of 86 World Cup victories.

While she has been off the slopes, Vonn has been spending time with her Canadian boyfriend, NHL ice hockey player and Sochi 2014 gold medallist P.K. Subban.

Vonn will have training runs at St Anton on Thursday and Friday ahead of Saturday's downhill and the Super G on Sunday.

With Goggia unlikely to return until the end of January after fracturing her ankle back in October, Ilka Stuhec looks to be the woman to beat this weekend.

After knee surgery ruled her out of PyeongChang 2018, the Slovenian bounced back to form with victory in both the downhill and Super G in Val Gardena in mid-December.

But all eyes will be on Vonn as she bids to move closer to Stenmark's tally.
