Two-time Olympic badminton champion Viktor Axelsen is through to the final at the 2024 BWF Hong Kong Open.

The Danish star shuttler dispatched Indonesia's seventh seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 21-9, 21-19 on Saturday (14 September), showcasing some of the form that earned him his second Olympic gold last month at Paris 2024.

After cruising through the first game, Axelsen faced more of a challenge in the second but finished the job in 42 minutes.

The 30-year-old is hoping to bag his second title on tour this year, having won the Malaysia Masters in May.

He now faces unseeded Lei Lan Xi from People's Republic of China who ousted last year's Hong Kong Open champion winner Jonatan Christie 21-14, 12-21, 21-17.

In the women’s singles competition, Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani continued her surprising run by edging past Japan's Miyazaki Tomoka 22-20, 21-23, 21-18. In the final, she will meet China's third seed Han Yue.
