Noah Lyles won the men’s 60m showdown with Christian Coleman in a world lead and personal best of 6.43 at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships on Saturday (17 February).

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lyles took the tape over the race’s three-time winner and world record-holder Coleman by 0.01.

Ronnie Baker, the third fastest American ever with a PB of 6.40, was third with a season best of 6.51.

Lyles had begun his Paris 2024 Olympic year on a high at the Grand Prix Boston two weeks ago, clocking his previous PB of 6.44.

Coleman - who shot to a 6.51 in his season-opener at the Millrose Games in New York earlier this month - had been the only man to stop Lyles in his stellar 2023 campaign.

At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last summer, Lyles - who broke Michael Johnson's 27-year-old American 200m record at the national championships - won three golds to take his career tally to six.
