The two English teams - Manchester City and Chelsea - hold the upper hand heading into the second leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2020-21 semi-final fixtures in the upcoming week.

While Pep Guardiola's Manchester City came from behind to win 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the first leg at the Parc des Princes, Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in Spain.

Both Premier League sides will be playing at home in the second leg - Manchester City at the Emirates and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

City will be the overwhelming favourites against last year's finalists PSG courtesy their away win and two away goals.

After falling behind to an early Marquinhos goal in Paris, Manchester City rallied in the second half and claimed victory through goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez.

Overturning the result in City's own backyard is set to be an uphill task for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

In Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Angel di Maria, though, PSG do have the necessary firepower to do so but the way Man City's defenders rendered Neymar and Mbappe largely ineffective in the first leg will be a worrying sign for the French club.

Furthermore, PSG will be without defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who saw a red card in the first leg.

With a 1-1 draw against 13-time UCL champions Real Madrid, Chelsea's advantage is somewhat less obvious than City's.

But the London club will draw confidence from their head-to-head record against the Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have never beaten Chelsea in their four European meetings till date.

The Spanish giants will look to their coach Zinedine Zidane to come up with a tactical masterpiece to curb the trend. The Frenchman does possess an impeccable record in UCL semi-finals, having guided his team through to the final in each of his three previous UCL top four ties.

Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior's combination up front will be key for Real Madrid in the crunch tie, while Chelsea's fortunes will be driven by their defensive players led by N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic up front.
