UEFA Champions League (UCL) 2020-21 returns this week with the first leg of the quarter-finals. Indian football fans can tune in for the live action in the small hours of Wednesday.

Four mouthwatering UCL quarter-final fixtures will be on offer with Real Madrid vs Liverpool and Bayern Munich vs PSG the pick of the lot. All four are the reigning champions of the domestic leagues in their respective countries.

Spanish giants Real Madrid will be at home for their first leg clash against Liverpool.

Still engaged in a tough La Liga title race and due to face arch-rivals Barcelona in an El Clasico this weekend, taking a first leg advantage over Liverpool may be imperative for Zinedine Zidane’s men ahead of their trip to Anfield for the second leg.

With captain Sergio Ramos nursing a thigh injury, the Los Blancos will look to veterans like Luka Modric and Marcelo to inspire. Up front, the ever-reliable Karim Benzema and in-form Marco Asensio will carry Madrid’s goal threat.

The duo may find a lot of space to work with in the match, considering Liverpool are still missing their first-choice central defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. Liverpool will be also without captain Jordan Henderson, which adds to their defensive woes.

One good news for Jurgen Klopp, however, is Diego Jota’s return to form. The Spaniard returned from a long injury layoff recently and has scored three in his last two outings.

Jota’s inclusion will certainly strengthen Liverpool’s attacking options, also featuring the likes of Mohammad Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

The 2019-20 English champions already seem out of the Premier League race this season but have stood their ground on the European Arena.

Last season’s UCL finalists Bayern Munich and PSG meet in the quarter-finals this time around.

After their defeat to the German powerhouse in the title decider last term, PSG will be looking for payback. The French champions will fancy their chances considering Bayern will be without top scorer Robert Lewandowski, who is out with a ligament injury.

Bayern, however, still possess enough threat in the likes of Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane to hurt any team.

With Neymar Jr back and Kylian Mbappe firing all cylinders, PSG will be full strength going into the crunch tie.
