Tom Schaar - USA - qualified
On where he needed to place in the final to earn a U.S. quota spot for Paris 2024:
“I was doing the math last night forever trying to figure out what it would take and finally I was like, “Well, f***, I have to get first or second, pretty much.’ Somehow it worked out.”
On his approach to Sunday’s competition:
“I was trying to pretend this was like any other contest. It’s just skating. We’ve all been doing this for so long, and we’re all just a big group of friends. There’s no like crazy rivalries or anything weird like that. We’re all just having fun. I’m standing up on that podium with my best friends. It’s so sick.”
On his run:
“The start of my run is the scariest part. The stalefish 360, then the backside 540, and then the alley-oop kickflip Indy. I knew if I got that out of the way, I wouldn’t say I was cruising for the rest of my run, but that was the part I was most stressed out about. Glad I got that and the rest of it just worked out.”
