Tokyo 2020 Table tennis day 6: People's Republic of China looks to continue winning streak in women's singles final

The women's singles competition in table tennis reaches its conclusion at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on the sixth day of the sport. Here’s everything you need to know about the women's table tennis finals at Tokyo 2020 on 29 July 2021.

What's happening?

The singles competitions are approaching their climax, and there are three sessions of table tennis on offer today. The women's singles semi-finals take place at 11 am (local time) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, before the men's singles semi-finals follow at 3 pm.

The women return at 8 pm (local time) for the medal matches.

Who should I expect to see?

The People's Republic of China has dominated table tennis since Beijing 2008, winning every gold medal on offer ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Expect their two athletes, CHEN Meng and SUN Yingsha, to be in the mix this Thursday.

However, hosts Japan are not to be written off. They can count on world number two ITO Mima to lead their charge.
