What’s happening?
It's the final day of table tennis competitions at Tokyo 2020, and one set of medals is left to award – in the men's team event.
The bronze-medal game takes place in the morning at 11am local time before the final at 7:30pm.
Each match will involve teams playing best-of-five rubbers – two singles, one doubles, and two more singles if necessary.
Who should I expect to see?
The Tokyo 2020 table tennis tournament will come to a climactic end with the People's Republic of China looking to continue their proud history in the event when they take on Germany in the final.
Since the team events were introduced in Beijing 2008, China has won every gold medal. Their team is made up of world numbers one through three: FAN Zhendong, XU Xin, and four-time Olympic champion MA Long respectively. It will be a tough ask to dethrone the Chinese team with such firepower. Germany will attempt to do so with experienced veterans Dmitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll, who are joined by Patrick Franziska.
Hosts Japan – the silver medallists last time out at Rio 2016 – made up of HARIMOTO Tomokazu, NIWA Koki, and MIZUTANI Jun with go up against the Republic of Korea in the bronze-medal contest. The Republic of Korea team consists of JEOUNG Youngsik, LEE Sangsu and JANG Woojin.
