What’s happening?

It’s the conclusion of the sailing programme at Tokyo 2020, and what better event to finish things off at the Enoshima Yacht Harbour than the 470 class. The excitement begins at 2.30pm (local) when the men and women compete for the medals.

Who should I expect to see?

Great Britain’s Hannah Mills, who is competing in her third Olympic Games, will become the most successful British female sailor in history if she wins the gold medal. The world No. 1 won silver at London 2012 and gold at Rio 2016 (with Saskia Clark). But she and Eilidh McIntyre will have to beat rivals Poland's Agnieszka Skrzypulec and Jolanta Ogar and Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz of France to do it.

In the men’s event, Australia’s Mathew Belcher, who won gold at London 2012 (with Malcolm Page) and silver at Rio 2016 (with current crew member Will Ryan), has the chance to become the most decorated Olympic Men’s 470 sailor with a medal at Tokyo 2020.
