Tokyo Olympics, boxing: Andy Cruz vs Keyshawn Davis in men’s lightweight final - watch live

The Tokyo Olympics men’s boxing gold medal match in the lightweight category will be a repeat of the 2019 world championships final, between Andy Cruz of Cuba and Keyshawn Davis of the USA at the Kokugikan Arena on Sunday.

Cruz, who will turn 26 later this month, had won that final 5-0 against 22-year-old Davis.

Davis has been in superb form at the Tokyo Olympics, having knocked out Rio 2016 silver medallist Sofiane Oumiha of France in the round of 16. He also beat 2017 and 2019 world championships bronze medallist Hovhannes Bachkov of Armenia in the semi-finals 5-0.

Cruz hasn’t been tested as much on his way to the final. He beat 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Harry Garside of Australia 5-0 in the semis.

Uzbekistan’s Bakhodir Jalolov, the 2019 world champion, will be the favourite in the men’s super heavyweight final against Richard Torrez Jr of the USA.

Bakhodir Jalolov had beaten India’s Satish Kumar 5-0 in the quarter-finals.

In the women’s lightweight final, Kellie Anne Harrington of Ireland, the 2018 world champion, will take on reigning champion Beatriz Ferreira of Brazil.

Li Qian of China, the Rio 2016 bronze medallist and 2018 champion, will go up against Lauren Price, the 2019 world champion, in the women’s middleweight final.

Li Qian had defeated Pooja Rani of India 5-0 in the quarters.
