Noah Lyles is a man on a mission to change the profile of track and field.

The flamboyant sprint star wants to break new ground, on and off the track.

With a 200m time of 19.31, he is the fastest 200m runner in the last decade and third fastest of all time. The 26-year-old is already running faster than legendary track star Usain Bolt was at his age. Now, he’s looking to shave just 13 hundredths of a second to better the Jamaican legend's world record.

NBC Sports followed the three-time world champion and Olympic bronze medallist through his approach to defending his world title and the attempt to make history.

Premiering today, Untitled: The Noah Lyles Project shows insight into the athletic and personal life of Lyles as he is trying to lead his sport into the future.

Chasing Lighting, part one of the docuseries, debuts today (18 August 2023), before the American walks onto the global stage at Worlds tomorrow. Through the episode, Lyles describes his medically tumultuous childhood, his struggle with depression and his team of coaches, therapists, agents and supporters in their roles.

Part one is filled with behind-the-scenes access to his 2023 outdoor season, including his victory at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica where he met and conversed with the legend himself, Usain Bolt.

“Let me tell you something,” Bolt said to Lyles in the documentary.

“Keep your same attitude…we need a personality,” he said to Lyles after watching him dominate the 200m.

Lyles describes how, walking into this competition, he wanted to make his mark on the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, knowing that the world's greatest had all done it there before him.

“The first time I met him, I was a no-name,” he said when talking about his previous experiences with Bolt.
