Athletics - National Open 400m Championships 2021: Get schedule and watch live streaming

The National Open 400m Championships 2021 is scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 11-12.

The senior 400m race has 27 entries in the men’s category while only six are listed to run in the women’s division.

Two-time Olympian Muhammed Anas holds the national men's 400m record with a timing of 45.21 seconds, set at the Kladno Memorial Athletics Meet in the Czech Republic in 2019.

Among women, Hima Das set the national record of 50.79 seconds at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Neither Muhammed Anas nor Hima Das are competing at the two-day event. The athletes who qualified for the 4x400m men’s and mixed relay teams for the Tokyo Olympics are not listed to take part either.

Ayush Dabas, who won 400m bronze at the National Open Athletics Championships last month, is the most notable athlete at the meet.

Events will also be run for Under-20, Under-18 and Under-16 age groups, for both boys and girls, respectively.

Kunja Rajitha and 16-year-old Rupal, who were a part of the Indian 4x400m relay team at the World Athletics Under-20 Championship in August, will also be in action in the age category competitions.

“We believe this is a chance for youngsters to showcase their talent," Athletics Federation of India president Adille Sumariwalla said. "I am sure those who have signed up for the nationals will relish the chance to produce their best."

This is the third edition of the 400m championship, previously held in 2019. It was not held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
