Who will reign supreme in the WTA Tour Finals (2-9 November) in Riyadh?

Eight women’s singles players and eight women’s doubles pairings will battle it out in Saudi Arabia in the tennis season finale, vying for the crown of year-end champions.

Iga Swiatek returns as a two-time Grand Slam winner this year and the defending WTA Finals champion. Her biggest challenger will be Aryna Sabalenka, the new world number one who swept the hard-court Slams in fashion.

There have been seven different singles champions from seven different nationalities since 2016 – will that trend continue this year?

Here is everything you need to know for the 2024 season finale.

WTA Tour Finals – singles and doubles lineups

Headlining the finals in Saudi Arabia are the tour’s Grand Slam champions this year in Swiatek and Sabalenka. Polish star Swiatek has won two of the three meetings in 2024, but no.1 Sabalenka has surged ahead in the rankings after a dominant few months.

Jasmine Paolini has qualified for both the singles and the doubles finals after a stellar year, the latter of which she will contend with her Paris 2024 gold medal partner Sara Errani.

The last player to achieve the same feat was Coco Gauff, who has won two titles in 2024 and vying for her first WTA Finals triumph.

In the doubles draw, world number one pair Lyudmyla Kichenok and Jelena Ostapenko will fancy their chances at glory with in the absence of defending champions Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonareva.

Though they head to Riyadh as the lowest-ranked doubles pairing, Wimbledon champions Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova have excelled in 2024, with the former also winning the French Open with Gauff.
