Simone Manuel and Katie Ledecky score wins on night 2 of swimming in Texas

The Olympic gold medallists captured their respective events in San Antonio, as Michael Andrew continued his push towards an Olympic debut.

Olympic champion swimmer Simone Manuel was back to her golden ways Thursday night in the pool.

The 100m freestyle winner at Rio 2016 captured the race on the second day of action at the TYR Pro Series meet in San Antonio, clocking a 54.62 for the win.

At the Summer Games in 2016, Manuel tied with Canada’s Penny Oleksiak for gold, the two swimmers setting an Olympic record of 52.70.

A night after five-time Olympic champ Katie Ledecky eased to victory in the 1500m freestyle she was back on top of the podium, clocking in at 4:05.00 in the 400m freestyle.

Ledecky said – even without fans in attendance – that the energy level was high from the swimmers, being able to compete again.

Ledecky was also third in the 100m free.

Michael Andrew, the 2016 world champion in the 100m medley, was victorious in the 100m breaststroke, just edging out Nic Fink, 1:00.10 to 1:00.34.

Andrew now has 25 TYR Pro Series wins, according to USA Swimming. Manuel’s triumph was her 15th in the Series.

In the men’s 100m free, Blake Pieroni finished the fastest among 10 U.S. national team members. The 2016 Olympian clocked a 49.53 in a field that included multi- Olympic gold medallists Nathan Adrian and Caeleb Dressel.

Hali Flickinger won the 200m butterfly, with a 2:07.20, beating teenager Ragan Smith, who touched in at 2:10.79.
