Ski Jumping Team Competition flies at YOG

Germany won the first Ski Jumping Team competition on an Olympic programme on Saturday as the snow continued to fall at the Seefeld arena. Tom Lubitz, Andreas Wellinger and Katharina Althaus claimed gold with a score of 640.1 points. Slovenia took silver with 610.5 and Canada claimed bronze with 587.0.

After sealing his team's spot on top of the podium, Andreas revealed the pressure he felt when jumping for the gold. "It was difficult because I knew we were in front and that I had to do my best," he said. "Luckily, I did it, which is a very nice feeling."

Sara Takanashi, the winner of the first woman’s ski jumping competition on an Olympic programme, also competed in the event as part of the Japanese team who finished fifth.

In this new event consists of three athletes – one woman and one man from ski jumping and one athlete from Nordic combined.
