Loh Kean Yew will get a chance to shine in front of a supportive home crowd this week as he takes part in the BWF World Tour Super 750 2023 Singapore Open badminton event from 6–11 June 2023 at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The world number four and Asian continental runner-up is looking to get his World Tour season back on track after back-to-back round-of-32 eliminations at the All England Open and Malaysia Masters.

Earlier this year, Loh recorded two quarter-final finishes and two further round-of-16 appearances, but has yet to make a last four this season.

Loh will face Hong Kong China's Lee Cheuk Yiu, against whom he does not have the best career record. While Loh won their last meeting at the Badminton Asia Championships en route to taking silver, Lee holds the upper hand 3–1 in their career head-to-head.

Should be make it past Lee, Loh would face either Israel's Misha Zilberman or Christo Popov of France in the last 16, which would be a first-ever meeting regardless of opponent.

Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn – who has beaten Loh four times in five previous meetings – potentially awaits in the quarter-finals.
