Shaun White targets fourth Olympic gold medal in halfpipe snowboarding after being named to the USA snowboard team

Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson, Red Gerard also named to the talented snowboard team ahead of 2021/22 Olympic season

Three-time Olympic gold medallist snowboarder Shaun White has been named in the USA snowboard team in the halfpipe event.

The full roster of 36 pro-level riders across halfpipe, slopestyle, big air, and snowboard cross disciplines is jammed full of podium topping talent.

Chloe Kim, Jamie Anderson, Red Gerard are among the gold medallists hoping to add to their hauls at the Winter Olympics in 2022.

White will be 35 when the Winter Olympic Games start in Beijing in 2022.

He was hoping to represent the US at Tokyo 2020 in skateboarding but decided to concentrate on snowboarding.

“I thought, ’I don’t know if I want to bet fully on this, and snowboard was sitting there, so I decided I had to make some tough decisions and I’m going to focus on snowboard,” he said to the Associated Press in January.

Reigning women’s halfpipe Olympic champion, Chloe Kim, was also named to the team along with double Olympic champion in slopestyle Jamie Anderson.

In an exclusive interview with Olympic Channel, Kim was already focusing on executing her plan at the Games.

"I already know what I'm doing. I have a very clear picture what I need to do as an athlete and going into the Olympics. I'm very well prepared."

Olympic champion Red Gerard looking to defend Olympic title

Red Gerard took home Olympic gold from PyeongChang 2018 and he’s been included in the slopestyle team.

Gerard was just 17 when he became Olympic champion.

Talented teenager Dusty Henricksen, 18, is one of the team’s rising stars. He won gold at the 2021 X Games in the slopestyle event.
