The 2023 U.S. Figure Skating Championships are underway in San Jose, Calif., at the SAP Center.
The figure skating event returns to the site of the 2018 nationals, which determined Team USA for PyeongChang 2018.

Fifteen-year-old Isabeau Levito claimed her first title in women's singles, winning by some 10 points over two-time champ Bradie Tennell. Levito led by just 0.02 points after the short program, but widened that gap in the free skate.
In the men's short, Ilia Malinin is a skate away from his first national title at age 18, soaring to a 110.36, while Jason Brown, competing for the first time since Beijing 2022, sits second at 100.25.
Also on Thursday, reigning pairs world champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier took the lead, as did three-time world medallists in ice dance, Madison Chock and Evan Bates.
