Rugby World Cup 2023: These teams have qualified for the quarter-finals
The 20 teams which started out in the quest for the Webb Ellis Cup in France have been whittled down to eight. Find out who has made the quarter-finals.
The action in the men's Rugby World Cup 2023 is heating up.
Twenty teams started the 10th edition of rugby union's showpiece event in France with 2003 champions England and Wales the first teams to book their spots in the quarter-finals.
Rugby World Cup holders South Africa made it out of Pool B despite their defeat in a thriller against unbeaten Ireland, while New Zealand have looked in ominously good form since their opening reverse to hosts France.
The All Blacks were the first team to make the quarter-finals from Pool A, thanks to an 11-try demolition of Uruguay (73-0), with the French hammering Italy 60-7 to win the group.
Fiji joined Wales in getting out of Pool C, and put out two-time champions Australia in the process, despite suffering a shock defeat to Portugal in the last match of the group stages.
A late converted try saw the Portuguese triumph 24-23 in Toulouse, their first win in Rugby World Cup history, but Fiji made it through on points difference.
Argentina defeated Japan 39-27 in the early match on Sunday to take second spot in Pool D behind England.
The quarter-finals - headlined by Ireland versus New Zealand and France against South Africa - take place the following weekend.
