Rowers complete line up for the finals

In the junior men’s and women’s single sculls, the three best rowers from each semi-final progressed to the final races which are due to take place on 20 August.

In the junior women’s competition Athina Maria Angelopoulou (GRE) posted the days’ best result over the 1,000m course with a strong time of 3 minutes 46.82 seconds, finishing just 0.66 seconds ahead of France’s Camille Juillet.

The men’s competition featured two medallists from the Junior World Championships, Daniel De Groot (CAN) and Tim Ole Naske (GER), and both finished first in their respective semi-finals. Their close times suggest that the men’s final in Nanjing will produce another close fight between the Canadian and the German.

The repechage races in the pairs event saw eight teams qualifying for the A/B final, including host nation China in the junior women’s event and the heavily fancied Turkish team in the junior men’s event.
