Tokyo 2020 diving day 3: CHEN Yuxi and ZHANG Jiaqi look to continue China's gold harvest at the women's synchronised 10m platform final
The final of the women's synchronised 10m platform event will take place today. Here’s everything you need to know about the third day of the Olympic diving competition at Tokyo 2020 on 27 July 2021.
What's happening today?
Day three of the diving competition sees the third medal event take place, the women's synchronised 10m platform.
Who should I expect to see?
It's hard to look past the People's Republic of China for this event, having won gold at every women's synchronised 10m platform competition since its introduction at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. CHEN Yuxi and 14-year-old ZHANG Jiaqi take up the mantle this time.
Keep an eye out for PAMG Pandelela Rinong too. The Malaysian icon, who won 10m synchro silver with teammate CHEONG Jun Hoong at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, has a habit of making history for her nation. She became the first female Malaysian athlete to win an Olympic medal – bronze in 10m platform at London 2012 – and the first Malaysian to win an Olympic medal in any sport other than badminton. Can she make further history in Tokyo with gold in this event?
