Pawan Singh - The first Indian to be a jury member at Tokyo Olympics

Pawan Singh, the joint secretary-general of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), has been re-elected as a member of the Judges Committee of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).

The voting for the position was conducted online, due to the pandemic, with Pawan getting over 75 per cent votes to be re-elected at the position. Incidentally, this will be the second consecutive term for Pawan, making him the first Indian to be a jury member at the Tokyo Olympics. His first stint as one of the seven members of the Judges Committee of the ISSF began in December 2018. He also remains the lone Indian to be elected to the ISSF Committee.

"I am grateful to the international shooting community, especially the members of the administrative council of ISSF for having faith in me and acknowledging my sincere efforts taken in the last term," Singh stated in a media release.

Pawan is a former rifle shooter and shooting coach for the Indian team. He began his rifle shooting career in 1995 and won laurels at the state and national championships. His coaching stint with the Indian team came between 2007 and 2012. 

Apart from his career as a rifle shooter and coach, he was also the Competitions Director in the 2017 ISSF World Cup held in New Delhi. He also represented India at the World Conference organized by the ISSF in 2017.

His experience also includes working as the Coordinator for the World Cup event which was held in February 2017, Asian Olympic Qualifying Quota Competition and the 8th Asian Airgun Championship. He has been a part of the 'Jury Equipment Control' for the Commonwealth Games, World Military Games and Commonwealth Youth Games in the past. 

He was also selected for the special instructors' workshop organized by the International Shooting Sport Federation, which was held in Munich, Germany in November, 2017.
