Team GB at Paris 2024 Olympics: Preview, highlights, athletes to watch and schedule for 11 August
And so we come to the final day of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, with British athletes going all out on Day 16 in one final push.
History-maker Emily Campbell will be vying for another gong after claiming Britain's first-ever Olympic medal for women in weightlifting with silver at Tokyo 2020, in the women's +81kg category.
Emma Finucane could add to her two track cycling medals from France, considering she's reigning world champion in women's sprint. Jack Carlin will be going in the men's keirin and also looking to add to a pair of medals from Paris at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines National Velodrome.
Kate French will defend her Olympic title from Japan in the women's modern pentathlon, with the 90-minute final taking place at the historic Palace of Versailles.
Rose Harvey, Calli Hauger-Thackery and Charlotte Purdue will compete in the women’s marathon, the route chosen to represent the historic Women's March on Versailles in October 1789.

British athletes to watch on 11 August at Paris 2024: Emily Campbell, Emma Finucane, Jack Carlin and Kate French
On returning home after winning Olympic silver, Campbell and her family headed to their local market to thank the traders who had played their own part in her success by giving her free fruit and vegetables, as well as even repairing her weightlifting shoes for free.
Since the silver medal in Tokyo, Campbell has added world silver and won four successive European titles. The Olympic champion from Tokyo, People's Republic of China’s Li Wenwen, will again be favourite for gold.
British history in two of Sunday's cycling disciplines will resonate for Finucane and Carlin. The last person to win the women's sprint Olympic title was one Victoria Pendleton at Beijing 2008. The men's keirn, meanwhile, was won by Chris Hoy in 2008 and at London 2012, then by Jason Kenny at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Can Carlin continue that Team GB dominance?
In the last modern pentathlon before the equestrian jumping aspect is replaced by an obstacle course for LA 2028, defending champion French will be aiming for the last Olympic medal in the traditional format of the sport.
A change since Tokyo sees the final take place in a frantic timeframe of 90 minutes, instead of over a full day, with athletes building points in swimming, fencing, jumping — on a horse paired with an athlete just 20 minutes before the competition — and concluding with a laser-run.
