Olympic Gold Medallist Yuna Kim becomes 2018 Games Ambassador
The PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games (POCOG) has announced that Olympic gold medallist figure skater Yuna Kim will be an ambassador for the 2018 Games.
Kim’s new position will see her playing a high-profile role in promoting the Games and engaging the public at major domestic and international events. She is also expected to participate actively in POCOG’s on-line youth promotion activities.
POCOG President Yang-Ho Cho said about the nomination of Kim, “As an ambassador for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, we expect her to take the lead in promoting the Games to the world.”
A long-time supporter of the PyeongChang 2018 Games, Yuna Kim was already a bid ambassador, taking part in a number of campaign trips and, ultimately, acting as a presenter during the bid presentation by PyeongChang to the IOC Session in Durban in 2011, where PyeongChang was elected as the 2018 host city. She is also currently an active Executive Board member of POCOG.
As a figure skater, Yuna Kim has many notable achievements to her name, including gold and silver Olympic medals, and gold medals at the ISU World Championships, ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, and the ISU Grand Prix Final. She is POCOG’s sixth Games ambassador.
