22-time Grand Slam tennis champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist Rafael Nadal announced Thursday (10 October) that he plans to end his legendary career after next month’s Davis Cup in Malaga, Spain.

To honour Nadal’s spectacular career, the Olympic Channel will run 48 hours of coverage featuring the Spaniard this Saturday and Sunday (12-13 October).

"It's been a rough few years, especially the last two. I haven't been able to play without limitations,” said Nadal in a video posted on his social media channels. “It's been a difficult decision, one that has taken me a while to make, but in this life, everything has a beginning and an end, and I think this is the right time to put an end to what has been a long and much more successful career than I could have ever imagined.

"I'm very excited that my last tournament will be the Davis Cup final, representing my country. I think it's coming full circle, as one of my first great moments of joy was the [Davis Cup] final in Seville in 2004."

The Olympic Channel’s marathon will let fans relive some of his most iconic Olympic moments, including his gold medal victories in Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016, and thrilling doubles matches from the Paris 2024 Games.

The marathon also features the exclusive documentary Rafael Nadal at Age 16, offering a unique glimpse into his early rise to greatness.
