Botswana sprinting ace Letsile Tebogo remains unbeaten since he won the Olympic 200m gold medal racing to victory at the Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland on Sunday (25 August).

The new track star recovered from a sluggish bend before finishing with a bang crossing the line in a meeting record of 19.83 seconds.

The 21-year-old Tebogo came out of the curve trailing Kenny Bednarek of the United States on his inside and Alexander Ogando of the Dominican Republic on his outside.

In contrast to some of his other victories this season, Tebogo had to come from behind to clinch the victory by a whisker.

Ogando followed shortly behind him in a time of 19.86s with Olympic silver medallist Bednarek taking third in 20.00s. Erriyon Knighton (USA) came in fourth (20.07).

Tebogo has been on a hot streak since winning the Monaco Diamond League meeting ahead of this year’s Olympic Games.

He delivered his pièce de résistance at Paris 2024 where he cruised to victory in an African record of 19.46s which ranks the fifth fastest ever.
