Bajwa, Khan in Indian shotgun team for ISSF World Cup in Cairo

The Indian shooting federation will name the pistol and rifle teams for the World Cups in New Delhi and Changwon after the February trials.

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), on Friday, announced the Indian team for the upcoming International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup. The event will be held in Cairo, Egypt, from February 22 to March 5.

The 12-member contingent includes Tokyo Olympics quota winners Angad Singh Bajwa and Mairaj Ahmad Khan, who have been chosen for the men’s Skeet event. Former Olympian Kynan Chenai,  and Asian Games 2018 trap event silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran are also in the squad.

Men’s Skeet: Angadvir Singh Bajwa, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Gurjoat Singh Khangura

Women’s Skeet: Ganemat Sekhon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Karttiki Singh Shaktawat

The 12 shotgun specialists, along with 12 more rifle and pistol shooters, will also participate in the Asian online shooting competition being hosted by Kuwait on January 29 and 30.

Divyansh Singh Panwar, Anjum Moudgil, Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma, Apurvi Chandela, Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Deepak Kumar – all eight of India’s Olympic quota winners in pistol and rifle events – will participate in the Kuwait event.

They’ll be joined by 10m Air Rifle world No. 1 Elavenil Valarivan, Arjun Babuta, Sarabjot Singh and Annu Raj Singh in the online competition.

The national shooting federation, however, deferred announcing the Indian contingent for the Air Rifle and Air Pistol ISSF World Cups to be held in New Delhi, India, and Changwon, South Korea, in March and April, respectively.

The final selection for these two will only be made after the third and fourth national trials to be held at Delhi’s Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range from February 8 to 14.
