Novak Djokovic will open his 2025 season playing doubles with the returning Nick Kyrgios at the Brisbane International.
Djokovic returns to the ATP 250 tennis event in Australia for the first time since 2009, as the Olympic champion continues the hunt for his 100th career singles title.
Meanwhile, this will be Kyrgios’ first competitive tournament for 18 months. The Australian is back on home soil where he was victorious in Brisbane back in 2018. He has played just one match in the last two years due to injury.
Although the tournament organisers have not officially confirmed the partnership, Kyrgios posted an Instagram story on Monday (16 December), a photo of him and Djokovic captioned, “Doubles at Brisbane. See y’all there.”
Djokovic and Kyrgios met in the 2022 Wimbledon final, which saw the Serb win his seventh title at SW19 and a 21st Grand Slam with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3) triumph.
However, it is Kyrgios who is ahead in their head-to-head record, currently leading 2-1 thanks to two victories in 2017.
The Australian swing will be Djokovic’s first test of the new season, which he goes into with a new coach in former rival and two-time Olympic champion Andy Murray.
In the same city that will host the 2032 Olympic Games, the Brisbane International takes place from 29 December 2024-5 January 2025.
