Recording impressive NBA stat lines has become something of a habit for Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
Regularly putting on performances that result in numbers that have either never been seen before or have been done only by a select few shows that when it comes to basketball, the 29-year-old Serbian is in a lane of his own.
In 2024, Jokic received his third regular NBA Most Valuable Player award to tie with Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Moses Malone and did so off the back of some stellar digits.
Jokic finished fifth in total points, third in total rebounds, second in total assists and eighth in total steals. He is the only player in NBA history to be top 10 in all four categories in a single season.
It’s with little surprise - with those kinds of stats - that one area the man known as the ‘Joker’ dominates is in the realm of triple-doubles.
The elusive stat line, famed for its difficulty, is the achievement of a double-digit total in three of five statistical categories over a single game. It denotes dominance and a well-roundedness few are capable of delivering.
In March 2023, just over midway through his eighth season, Jokic became the sixth NBA player to record 100 career triple-doubles. Eight months later, he surpassed LeBron James in career triple-doubles and has since maintained distance from the U.S. legend as he’s grown his total.
It’s not just by sheer amount that Jokic flashes a mastery of the triple-double.
In 2018, the Nuggets center recorded the fastest triple-double in league history against the Milwaukee Bucks, needing just 14 minutes and 33 seconds to hit the famed stat line. He finished the game with 30 points, 17 assists and 14 rebounds to help lift the Nuggets to a 134-123 victory.
The Serb is also part of an exclusive club of players in modern NBA history to have recorded a triple-double against every team he’s faced. The only other players to achieve this feat are James and Russell Westbrook.
