The England women's national football team will re-unite one of the most successful coaching partnerships of recent years.

The English Football Association have announced that an agreement has been made for Dutchman Arjan Veurink to join as an assistant coach, working with new Head Coach Sarina Wiegman, after the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.

Both are joining from the Netherlands national women's team, where they have worked together since 2017.

Wiegman had previously been confirmed to be taking over the Head Coach role in September 2021, ahead of the UEFA Women's EURO Championships in 2022, which take place in England.

Earlier in January, it was announced that Hege Riise, who won a World Cup and Olympic gold as a player with Norway, and helped coach USA to the Olympic title, will take interim charge of the Lionesses, after the immediate departure of Phil Neville.

Wiegman and Veurink helped steer the Netherlands to the European title in 2017, and to the 2019 World Cup final in France, where England were beaten by eventual winners USA in the semi-finals.

That England performance helped ensure Great Britain's women qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.

A decision on who will coach the GB team for the Olympics is yet to be announced.
