Top runners from around the globe and India will line up for the Mumbai Marathon 2024 this Sunday. The Mumbai Marathon will be live streamed.
This will be the 19th edition of the Mumbai Marathon, which was upgraded to a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race event last year and is the premier event on the Indian marathon calendar. The race has been held annually since 2004 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and 2022.
Regarded as one of Asia's premier marathon events, the Mumbai Marathon will see some top runners from around the world compete in the international elite field.
Ethiopians Hayle Lemi Berhanu and Anchialem Haymanot will be back to defend their titles in the men’s and women’s elite categories, respectively. Both won the race last year, setting new course records.
Ethiopian Kinde Atanw, who won the 2019 Valencia Marathon, 2019 world champion Lelisa Desisa and Eritrean Merhawi Kesete will be some of the top contenders.
The women's line-up includes Anchialem’s compatriots Tadelech Bekele, a 2018 London Marathon bronze medallist, and Sofia Assefa, the London 2012 Olympics steeplechase silver medallist.
In the Indian elite field, last year’s men’s champion Gopi T and women’s runners-up Aarti Patil will headline the field. Srinu Bugatha, the 2020 champion, and Jigmet Dolma, runners-up in 2017 and 2019, are also in the fray.
The Mumbai Marathon also has other events like the half marathon and Open 10K runs amongst others.
The half-marathon field will also be a strong one with Asian Games medallists Kartik and Gulveer Singh in the mix.
The iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus will be the starting point for all races of the Mumbai Marathon 2024. The half-marathon will start from the Mahim Reti Bandar ground.
The 2024 Mumbai Marathon is expected to see over 56,000 physical runners compete while over 2,900 runners will participate virtually through the app.

The Mumbai Marathon 2024 will be available on live streaming on FanCode. Live telecast of the Mumbai Marathon will be on the Sony Sports TEN 1 and Sony Sports TEN 1 HD TV channels.
