Pole vault supremo Mondo Duplantis raised the world record for the 10th time scaling a height of 6.26m at the Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland on Sunday (25 August).

Duplantis improved the world record he set in Paris 2024 to win his second consecutive Olympic title by a centimetre.

The two-time Olympic champion kept his winning streak of more than a year intact with a towering performance.

Duplantis won the competition at a height of 6.00m before he asked the bar to be raised to 6.26m. He failed on his first attempt but made no mistake on his second to send the stadium into a frenzy.

The 24-year-old opened the night with 5.62m before skipping heights of 5.72m and 5.82m. Duplantis returned making no mistakes at 5.92m and 6.00m to secure the victory to extend his winning streak.

The super Swede has not tasted defeat since he finished fourth at the Monaco Diamond League in July 2023.

Duplantis had some company in the six-metre club in Silesia with former world champion Sam Kendricks scaling the magical height for the first time since 2020.

Kendricks, who finished second behind Duplantis at the Paris Olympics, cleared 6.00m on his second attempt to claim to finish as runner-up after failing at 6.08m.

Paris 2024 bronze medallist Emmanouil Karalis of Greece also cleared 6.00m but needed two tries to settle for third place.
