Ritu Phogat vs Nou Srey Pov: How to watch ONE Championship live in India

Indian wrestler-turned-mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Ritu Phogat returns to the ring at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the first time in eight months to take on Cambodia’s Nou Srey Pov in ‘ONE Championship: Inside the Matrix’ on Friday.

The Indian had last taken to the ring in February when she beat Chiao Chen Wu of China at ‘ONE Championship: King of the Jungle.’

Ritu is the youngest sibling of the Phogat sisters - Olympians Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat - and is a former wrestler herself, having won gold at the 2016 Commonwealth Championships.

The 26-year-old Ritu Phogat then turned her attention to MMA last year and made her debut in November 2019 against Korean Nam Hee Kim at ‘ONE Championship: Age of Dragons’, beating her in under three minutes.

Nicknamed the ‘Indian Tigress’, Ritu Phogat will aim to maintain her 100 per cent record in the MMA when she faces Nou Srey Pov. Watch the ONE Championship on live streaming in India.

That’s not her only challenge though.

“MMA is still not mainstream in India… I want Indian athletes to understand the sheer scope of MMA and the popularity that MMA holds across the world,” Ritu Phogat said. “I wanted to take this up as a challenge.”

The main attraction at the latest ONE Championship event though are the four world title bouts. 

Reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion ‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang of Myanmar will defend his middleweight world title against Reinier de Ridder (The Dutch Knight) of The Netherlands.

ONE Lightweight world champion ‘The Warrior’ Christian Lee of Singapore will make the first defence of his world title against Iuri Lapicus of Moldova.

The card also features a long-awaited showdown between ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen (‘The Situ-Asian’) of Vietnam and Australia, and third-ranked featherweight contender Thanh Le of Vietnam and the United States.

The fourth world title bout pits ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion ‘The Panda’ Xiong Jing Nan of China against Singapore’s Tiffany Teo (‘No Chill’) in a much-anticipated title rematch.

The event ‘ONE Championship: Inside the Matrix’ begins at 6 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
