Russia’s Anastasiia Dereviagina and Mexico’s Edson Ismael Ramírez Ramos took the next step on the podium, while Argentina’s Facundo Firmapaz and Finland’s Viivi Natalia Kemppi secured the bronze.

Pekler and Erdenechuluun beat Dereviagina and Ramírez 10-9 in the gold medal match, while Firmapaz and Kemppi saw off Mexico’s Gabriela Fernanda Martínez López and Austria’s Stefan Wadlegger 10-7 in the battle for the bronze.

The two-day event was the first in which India’s shooters failed to make the podium at Buenos Aires 2018, while Firmapaz’s medal success brought loud cheers from the crowd at Parque Sarmiento Shooting Range.

“I’m so happy to have won a medal at home and in front of my whole family,” said the Argentinian shooter.
