Christian Coleman, Ryan Crouser and Abby Steiner among top performers at Millrose Games

The World Athletics Indoor Tour meeting in New York witnessed high-quality performances and drama as world outdoor 200m champion Noah Lyles false-started in the men's 60m.

World 60 metres record holder Christian Coleman produced an explosive start to take victory in 60m at the fourth stop on the World Athletics Indoor Tour at the Millrose Games on Saturday (11 February).

Coleman kept his composure in a stop-start affair at New York City's Armory track, beating a fast-approaching Noah Lyles to the line clocking 6.47 seconds. Lyles, disqualified after flinching at the start, was allowed to run, posting a time of 6.53.

The two-time world 200m champion's time did not count towards an official result, with Jamaica's Travis Williams and Noah's younger brother Josephus Lyles finishing second and third respectively with the same time of 6.59.

American sprinting sensation Abby Steiner won the 300m in a new national record of 35.54 seconds, putting her third on the world all-time list behind Irina Privalova and Shaunae Miller-Uibo.

Earlier, world indoor silver medallist Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas won the women's 60m hurdles.

Olympic 100m hurdles silver medallist Keni Harrison appeared in the 60m sprint, lining up against the inform Aleia Hobbs who raced to a consecutive win with a time of 7.04s.

In the women's pole vault competition reigning Olympic champion Katie Moon (née Nageotte) came out on top, clearing 4.81m, with fellow American Bridget Williams finishing second with 4.76m. Rio 2016 gold medallist Katerina Stefanidi of Greece rounded out the podium with 4.62m.

World and Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser opened his 2023 season with a world leading heave of 22.58m, beating perennial challenger and compatriot Joe Kovacs (21.34m) into second place.
