Rahi Sarnobat outshoots Manu Bhaker at National Shooting Championship
Divyansh Singh Panwar also shone in the competition while Chinki Yadav struggled to find her groove.
At the 63rd National Shooting Championships in Bhopal, Asian Games gold medallist Rahi Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker excelled in the women's 25m Pistol category.
Sarnobat was clearly in sharper form of the two, asserting herself in qualification as well as the final, beating Bhaker to the gold medal by nine points. However, to her credit, Bhaker picked up the junior gold medal in addition to winning the silver in the women’s 25m Air Pistol.
Abhidnya Patil won the bronze medal, edging Annu Raj Singh and former national champion Anisa Sayyed.
Yadav's slip-up
For Chinki Yadav however, things didn't go so well. The 22-year-old who bagged a Tokyo 2020 quota in Doha struggled from the outset. Scoring 285 in the precision stage and 282 in the rapid-fire section, she missed the final by seven points.
Pushpanjali Rana also missed out on the final by having the same score as Shreya Gawande (574) but fewer inner-10s (10 vs 14).
Sanjeev Rajput rules
Sanjeev Rajput beat Chain Singh by 5.1 points to win gold in the men’s 50m Rifle 3-position event, after coming out on top in qualification with 1176. Rahul Poonia had to settle for bronze, ahead of Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who managed to bag the junior gold.
All-round ace
Earlier, 17-year-old Divyansh Singh Panwar shot 250.4 in the 10m Air Rifle final to beat Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar by 1.1 points and clinch the gold medal while Asian Games silver medallist Deepak Kumar took the bronze medal.
Panwar then went on to top the juniors too, with a 2.5-point advantage over Yash Vardhan, as well as the youth category, where he edged Tomar by 0.2 points gold, completing a perfect sweep.
