MLB 2024 teams: Know the baseball clubs competing for World Series glory
A total of 30 clubs will be competing for the World Series in MLB 2024. Know them all.
The Major League Baseball (MLB) 2024's first games will be played on March 20 and 21 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres squaring off in back-to-back matches at the Gocheok Sky Dome in the Republic of Korea as part of the MLB World Tour Seoul Series.
A total of 30 MLB teams will be vying for the coveted title with the first game of the potential seven-game season-ending World Series scheduled from October 22 to November 2.
Of the 30 competing teams, 29 represent cities and regions in the USA while one, Toronto Blue Jays, hail from Canada.
The 30 MLB teams are divided equally into two leagues - the National League and American League. Each league is further subdivided into three divisions - East, Central and West - with five clubs each.
During the course of the regular season, each MLB team will play 162 games.
They will play 13 games each against the four teams in their division, six games each against six chosen opponents in their league and seven games each against another four opponents in the same league. This totals to 116 games.
The remaining 46 will be interleague games against teams in the other league, including a four-game series against their designated interleague MLB rival.
Following the regular season, the three division winners and three Wildcard teams (sides with the best win:loss ratio besides the division winners) from each league qualify for the postseason or playoffs.
The MLB season finally concludes with the two league winners facing off in the World Series. Texas Rangers are the reigning World Series champions while the New Your Yankees, with 27 wins, are the most successful MLB team.
After the opening Seoul Series, MLB 2024 shifts back to North America for the regular season, which starts with the Opening Day on March 28 and runs till September 29 before the postseason takes hold from October 1.
