No drama for Netherlands’ Kiran Badloe who had an unassailable lead coming into this twelfth and final race of the men’s RSX windsurfing to win gold, the third consecutive gold won by an athlete from the Netherlands in this event. But for the rest of the pack, the next five behind Badloe had a chance to win a medal.
Thomas Goyard of France was in second and Italy’s Mattia Camboni was well placed to claim bronze coming into the race in Enoshima. However, three disqualifications for false starts for both, as well as Poland's Piotr Myszka, shook things up. But the Frenchman had done enough in the previous 11 races to stay in silver-medal position come race end, with People's Republic of China's BI Kun making the most of events to come fourth, enough to claim a bronze medal.
Britain's Tom Squires finished seventh. Compatriot Emma Wilson won silver in the women's event earlier in the day.
