Kim Ye-ji, the shooter from the Republic of Korea who went viral during the Paris 2024 Olympics, is all set to make her acting debut as an assassin.

In July, the 32-year-old clinched a silver medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. However, she went viral for a clip circulating online from the ISSF World Cup in Baku earlier in the year, where she set a world record.

In it, her exceptionally composed approach and a unique look - embellished with bespoke shooting glasses and a baseball cap worn backwards - turned her into an internet sensation.

Viewers were drawn to her cool, unflappable approach under pressure, and led the enamoured online community to create numerous fan art and memes since.

Kim Ye-ji is now set to channel that cool persona into her role as an assassin in Crush - a spinoff short-form series of the global film project Asia, a spokesperson for Seoul-based entertainment firm Asia Lab told AFP on Friday.

Kim Ye-ji will star alongside Indian actress and influencer Anushka Sen, who has a strong following in South Korea and has nearly 40 million followers on Instagram.

Capitalising on her newfound fame, Kim signed with a South Korean talent agency in August to manage her career off the range, which has already seen her grace magazine covers for a major luxury brand.
