Karolina Pliskova: The Wimbledon women's singles finalist heading to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics

July 2021 is a busy month for the Czech tennis player, from the grass court Grand Slam in London to the Olympics in Japan. But did you know she also has a successful twin sister?

It's a busy few weeks for Karolina Pliskova.

From playing in the Wimbledon singles final on 10th July, to the Tokyo Olympic tennis tournament starting two weeks later, 2021 could be a defining year for the Czech star.

Here are some of the key things to know about the tennis-playing twin.

Pliskova heading for Tokyo 2020 Games in 2021 with the Czech Team

The Czech Republic selected Pliskova to play at the Games in Tokyo, competing in women's singles alongside Rio bronze medallist and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova, the 2021 French Open champ Barbora Krejcikova, and 2019 French Open finallist Marketa Vondrousova.

She'll also team up with Vondrousova in the women's doubles.

Multiple title winner on the WTA Tour in singles and doubles

Karolina Pliskova racked up 16 WTA singles titles before reaching her first Wimbledon Final.

She's also a former world number 1 on the women's tour, reaching the summit in 2017.

Her doubles pedigree is also impressive, with five WTA titles to date.

And she's a three-time winner of the Fed Cup.

Grand Slam singles finallist

The 2021 Wimbledon women's singles final against Ash Barty was her second final in a major tournament, having reached the title game at the US Open in 2016, where she was beaten by Angelique Kerber.

Family affair for Pliskova twins

Karolina has an identical twin sister, Kristyna, who is two minutes Older.

Kristyna won the Wimbledon junior title in 2010.

Not to be outdone, Karolina also won a junior slam singles title in 2010, at the Australian Open.
