Junior Grand Prix: These figure skaters have qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final
Shimada Mao will lead a hefty Japanese delegation as she contests for a third consecutive crown at the Junior Grand Prix Final. Discover all the junior figure skaters who have qualified for the event, set to take place in Grenoble, France from 5 to 8 December.
Japan will send the biggest delegation to the Junior Grand Prix Final in December with five individual skaters and one pair qualifying based on the results at the seven-stage Grand Prix series. This includes Gangwon 2024 Youth Olympic Games champion Shimada Mao who will try to win a third consecutive title at the event.
Shimada finished the regular Junior Grand Prix season as the top ranked women's figure skater. Her teammates Nakai Ami and Wada Kaoruko placed two and three to make it an all-Japanese top trio.
The Junior Grand Prix Final, which will take place in Grenoble, France from 5 to 8 December, will also see Japan's Nakata Rio return to defend his 2023 title. His biggest competition is likely to come from top junior men's qualifier Jacob Sanchez.
The USA skater was absent from last season's final but put up a dominant display this season as he won the stages in Turkiye and Slovenia. Nakata finished first in the last Junior Grand Prix, in Wuxi, the People's Republic of China, and was second in September in Bangkok, Thailand.
