Jason Brown makes return to international competition, finishes with bronze at Warsaw Cup as Lukas Britschgi claims title
The two-time Olympian Brown competed at an official event for the first time since finishing in fifth at the World Championships in March at the ISU Challenger Series stop in Poland.
Jason Brown is back on the international figure skating circuit.
The two-time Olympian from the U.S. competed for the first time since a fifth-place finish at the 2023 World Championships in March, claiming the bronze medal at Warsaw Cup, a stop on the ISU Challenger Series circuit.
Lukas Britschgi of Switzerland and Mark Gorodnitsky of Israel went 1-2 at the event, which featured a vocal crowd on Saturday (18 November).
Britschgi held on to his short program lead to score a 246.22 overall, with Gorodnitsky coming in at 243.29. Brown jumped from fourth after the short to third, finishing with a 236.75.
Brown told Olympics.com earlier this year that he is taking his over decade-long career season-by-season, with a focus on show skating. He competed at Japan Open early last month, and should look to factor in at the U.S. Championships in January should he choose to go.
The 2015 national champion won silver last January, his seventh national podium.
In the women's event in Warsaw, home hope Ekaterina Kurakova bounced back from being sixth after the short program to defend her 2022 title at this event, which she also won in 2019.
She beat Italy's Anna Pezzetta by less just over two points, 181.71 to 179.58, while Elyce Lin-Gracey of the U.S. won the bronze with a 177.50.
