At the first ever ski cross competition in Olympic history, Olympic Solidarity athlete Errol Kerr from Jamaica placed ninth in a field of 33 athletes.

Kerr, who has an Alpine skiing background like the majority of the ski crossers, was born to an American mother and a Jamaican father and grew up as a dual citizen between Lake Tahoe in California and Westmoreland in Jamaica.

For him it was about putting his country on the map in the new Olympic event\. “It’s more than just a country,” Kerr said before the race\. “It’s in my blood, in my DNA\.”
