The sport of figure skating continues to feel the impact of COVID-19.
On Thursday (10 December), the International Skating Union announced its decision to cancel the Grand Prix Final as well as January's European Championships in Zagreb, while maintaining its hope to stage the World Championships in Stockholm in late March.
The Grand Prix Final, which was also due to be a Beijing 2022 test event, had initially been postponed from its original start date of today.
These latest cancellations come after two Grand Prix events – in Canada and France – were scrapped during the Series.
The Four Continents championships, originally set for February in Sydney, had also been previously called off.
National championships are still set to be held in various countries, notably Russia and Japan, which will stage their events later this month.
The U.S. Championships remain on the calendar for mid-January, while Canada has already moved its nationals to early February.
